The two guest bedrooms are in the part of the house dating back to before 1690.

One has a double bed, and the second smaller room has two single beds.
Original Victorian iron and brass bedsteads all round, with lots of white linen, soft pillows and cosy duvets to complete the picture.
The age and layout of the cottage means that access to the smaller twin bedroom is made via the larger double one. So, if four guests wish to stay at the same time it is helpful if they are a family, or at least very good friends...

Tea and coffee making facilities are provided in a separate area between the two guest bedrooms. Adjoining the bedrooms there is an ensuite shower room with washbasin and toilet for the exclusive use of our guests.

Breakfast is served downstairs in a small guest dining room. Breakfasts are normally of the full traditional English variety, but can be just toast, cereals, continental or vegetarian if preferred. Robson's Craster (Northumberland) kippers are a house speciality.
Early breakfasts for early risers are always available.
Room rates per night for two people with full English breakfast are:-
£70.00 double, and £65.00 for the smaller twin.
Single occupancy is £45.00 for either room.
welcome you to Southover Cottage for bed and breakfast. It's just a few minutes drive from the centre of Lewes, East Sussex, and is set in the quiet and ancient hamlet of Chiltington.
The house is a typical Sussex cottage in the vernacular style. It overlooks Warningore Wood towards Black Cap on the South Downs, and has a public bridleway and footpath to the Downs that starts from the garden gate.
We are just ten minutes by car from Lewes Castle, thirty from Brighton's Royal Pavilion, twenty minutes from the Glyndebourne Opera, twenty five from the Dieppe ferry at Newhaven, and about ten more from the spectacular Seven Sisters cliffs beyond Seaford Head.

The two guest bedrooms have tiny windows overlooking a secluded garden containing many of the cottage garden plants you would expect to find in this lovely corner of the Sussex countryside at the end of May.

Guests are most welcome to explore and enjoy the garden.
Southover Cottage is close to the branch line from Lewes to London. Only a one hour journey to Victoria or London Bridge from Cooksbridge or Plumpton Racecourse stations. We are also just fifteen minutes from Sheffield Park Station and the Bluebell Line.
